As with all of our 12x12 Hanging File drawers and/or our 12x12 Hanging File Tables, they are specially designed so that when you sit your 12x12 papers in the file, the papers actually stand above the file an 1" -- 1-1/2" inches allowing you to actually SEE all of your papers at a glance!! It completely does away with having to sort through stacks of papers until you find the one you're looking for... you'll love it, guaranteed!!

Files to Purchase: Legal size hanging file folders with a 3" box-bottom.  These can be purchased at any office supply store. Generally, the 3" box-bottom files are not stocked in the stores and we've found it easier to either order them through the store and/or simply order online. You want the 3" extension because it is pleated at the bottom of the file folder, which allows your 12x12 papers to sit deeper in the file and still stand 1" above the file itself.  There are two types of 3" box-bottom files that you can purchase anywhere - (the item numbers listed are only good at Staples or Staples.com).

1. Staples brand - Item #418384 - http://www.staples.com.  These files are 3" box-bottom legal file folders but they have no tabs, inserts or pockets, but they're perfect if you're only organizing your 12x12 pattern papers in them.
2. Pendaflex - Item #521526 - http://www.staples.com. These files are the same as the ones above with the exception that they do have tabs, inserts and pockets on the side of the folder.  This is very useful if you like to store your coordinating paper embellishments along with your paper lines because they can easily slip into the 'side pocket' for use when you're ready to use this particular line of 12x12 papers -- everything is in one place!!

Other Great Uses:

• Organize your stickers, die-cuts and other "fun" embellishments by subject matter. Using regular legal size file folders, (Staples Item #116830), label them according to subject matter (i.e., "Friends" - "Flowers" - "Camping" - "School" - "Sports" - etc.). Then, the next time you go shopping and come home with flower stickers and other embellishments relating to flowers, you simply go to this "file" in your hanging file drawer (and/or Hanging File Table) and drop them into the folder!  Then, when you're in need of a "flower" embellishment, you go to one file and ALL of your flower embellishments are in ONE place!!
• Organize your scrap papers by color, holidays and/or by manufacturer. You'll use the same regular legal size file folders, (Staples Item #116830), as noted above and label them according to how you would use your scraps. Some examples that may be of help to you are as follows. Feel free to use one, or perhaps you'll incorporate them all -- it's whatever feels right to you and what works for you and your personal style!!

  • • Create files for each of your solid cardstocks (red, blue, orange, yellow, brown, etc)
    • Create files for your pattern papers (red prints, blue prints, yellow prints, etc)
  • Organize by Manufacturer:
  • • Create files for the manufacturer lines that you like and find that you use a lot of like, Basic Grey, K&Co., Heidi Swapp, etc.
  • Organize by Holiday:
  • • Create files for major holidays that you collect papers in like, Christmas, Easter, Birthdays, Valentines Day, etc.
